Today we met and made a new friend, "MAT MAN"

Mat Man! He helped us learn about what body parts people have and how they help us (see, hear, clap, etc.). We sang a song as we made our friend, and then drew a picture of him. Ask your child to sing the Mat Man song (lyrics below)!

(To the tune of "The Bear Went
Over the Mountain")

Mat Man has 1 head, Mat Man has 1 head, Mat Man has 1 head,
so that he can think.

Mat Man has 2 eyes, Mat Man has 2 eyes, Mat Man has 2 eyes
so that he can see.

Mat Man has 1 nose, Mat Man has 1 nose, Mat Man has 1 nose,
so that he can smell.

Mat Man has 1 mouth, Mat Man has 1 mouth, Mat Man has 1 mouth, so that he can eat.

Mat Man has 2 ears, Mat Man has 2 ears, Mat Man has 2 ears,
so that he can hear.

Mat Man has 1 body, Mat Man has 1 body, Mat Man has 1 body,
to hold what is inside.

Mat Man has 2 arms, Mat Man has 2 arms, Mat Man has 2 arms, so that he can reach.

Mat Man has 2 hands, Mat Man has 2 hands, Mat Man has 2 hands, so that he can clap.

Mat Man has 2 legs, Mat Man has 2 legs, Mat Man has 2 legs,
so that he can stand.

Mat Man has 2 feet, Mat Man has 2 feet, Mat Man has 2 feet,
so that he can walk.

Making first day crowns with Mrs. Maxson

Writing our names and drawing ourselves

First Day of School!!

We had so much fun! We all worked hard and had a great day. At morning circle we read the book, Franklin Goes to School, played "who's under the blanket", and said hello to all our new classmates. After that we had snack. When snack was over we went upstairs to library with Ms. B. When the students got back we did some work. We made 1st day crowns, wrote our names, and colored a 1st day picture. Then we went outside to play! We all had a wonderful first day at school!

Welcome to the Nestling Room!

Mrs. Maxson and I are excited to meet all of you and having you in our class.  We have a fun year planned!  We look forward to getting to know you and your family.

Important dates:

August 28th-  Open House will begin at  4:30pm.  Children and parents are welcome to come in and explore the classroom.  At 5:00pm we will ask that your child go outside with one parent, while the other parent remains in the room for a short presentation about what to expect for the upcoming school year.  This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and get to know us better.  At 5:30pm we will be having our school-wide BBQ.  This is a wonderful event where you will get to see our community come together for food and fun as we start our school year!

August 30th-  Our first day of school!!!!!! (Noon dismissal)

August 30th, 31st, and September 1st-  These days are scheduled half-days.  We will be having a noon pick up on those days. Please note, that the afternoon is a time set aside for, Intake Interviews.  At the August Open House you will have the opportunity to sign up for a time to meet with us to discuss your child before the school year really gets started.
If you have any questions this summer, please feel free to email me at sroundylane@cksvt.org.  I will be in and out all summer, but I will be sure to check my email often and I will respond as soon as I can.

I look forward to an exciting school year and cannot wait to have you in my classroom!
